Editorial Process

Peer review policy

Peer review is central to every Lumora journal. This policy explains how manuscripts are evaluated, how quickly decisions are made, and how editorial independence is protected.

Target timeframe: After payment confirmed

Fast, rigorous review. Lumora journals operate confidential peer review with a maximum target of 7 days from submission to first editorial decision. Unless a journal states otherwise, the default model is double-anonymous: author and reviewer identities are not shared with one another.

Review model

  • Double-anonymous peer review is the default across Lumora journals.
  • Editors and reviewers treat all manuscripts as confidential.
  • Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit — not author identity, affiliation, geography, or ability to pay.

The review process

  1. Submission & acknowledgement (Day 0). Authors submit through the journal portal. An automated confirmation is sent from Support@lumora.sa. No reply is needed.
  2. Desk review (Day 1). The editorial office checks scope, completeness, ethics approvals, and adherence to author guidelines. Out-of-scope or incomplete submissions may be returned without peer review.
  3. Peer review (Days 2–5). Qualified independent reviewers assess originality, methodology, rigor, clarity, and contribution. Reviewers are selected for subject expertise and absence of conflicts.
  4. Editorial decision (Days 6–7). The handling editor reaches a decision: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Authors receive a clear decision letter. Rejection notices require no reply.
  5. Acceptance & production. Accepted manuscripts proceed to APC invoicing. Production begins once payment is confirmed (see APC Information).

Timelines

Lumora's editorial target is a first decision within 7 days of submission. Actual times may vary when additional reviewer expertise is required or when major revisions are requested, but we do not use multi-week review cycles as a default.

  • Desk review: Day 1
  • Peer review: Days 2–5
  • First decision: Days 6–7 (maximum target)
  • Revision window: Set by the editor based on scope of changes
  • Publication after acceptance: After APC payment is confirmed and production is complete

Reviewer responsibilities

  • Provide objective, constructive, and confidential assessments within the agreed timeframe.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and decline where impartiality is not possible.
  • Report suspected ethical issues, including plagiarism, data concerns, or undisclosed conflicts.
  • Not use unpublished material from a manuscript under review.

Editorial decisions

Possible decisions are accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Decisions are independent and final at the journal level, made by the handling editor and editor-in-chief on scholarly grounds.

Authors may appeal an editorial decision by writing to Support@lumora.sa with a reasoned, evidence-based request. Appeals are reviewed by the editor-in-chief; they are not a substitute for peer review.

Communication

All workflow notifications (submission received, decision letters, publication notices) are sent from Support@lumora.sa. Lumora's editorial office responds to author and publisher inquiries within 24 hours, 24/7.
